The ICMG reviews the start of works to develop the Mediterranean Ring
The first day of the ICMG visit took place today, in which the Organizing Committee presented the progress of the project.category: ICMG
The International Committee of the Mediterranean Games (ICMG) (CIJM) today started work meetings to assess the progress of the Tarragona 2017 project. These meetings coincided with the start of works to develop the Mediterranean Ring, the epicentre of the Mediterranean Games. The project was finally approved yesterday at the plenary meeting of Tarragona City Council, with 20 votes in favour, 3 against and 4 abstentions.
Today, the ICMG was able to review “onsite” the start of this development, with a series of visits to installations to see the progress in the construction of Pavelló Sant Jordi, the Tarragona 2017 offices at Marina Port Tarraco, the Jordi Tarragó Shooting club and the Pavelló de Vila-seca, which will host the wrestling events.
These visits took place in the afternoon, while the morning was spent in work meetings, in which the Organizing Committee of the Mediterranean Games (OCMG) explained the progress of the project to the ICMG Executives of the OCMG presented to the International Committee all the work required during the last visit, which took place in November 2015. The ICMG will assess the documentation presented at the Executive Commission meeting to be held tomorrow, Friday. The conclusions of the visit will then be announced publicly.

Programme of Friday, 1st April
9 am – Meeting of the ICMG Executive Committee.
3 pm – Joint meeting between members of the Organizing Committee of the Mediterranean Games and the Coordination Commission of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games. This meeting will be attended by Josep Fèlix Ballesteros, mayor of Tarragona and president of the OCMG, and Alejandro Blanco, president of the Spanish Olympic Committee.
All the meetings will take place at the Port Aventura Convention Centre. <
