This afternoon the taekwondo competition of the Mediterranean Games Tarragona 2018 has started in Salou Pavilion until Saturday 30th.
In -49 kg women’s competition, the gold medal has gone to Turkey’s Rukiye Yildirim (12 points), a position that she already won at the taekwondo European Championship in the -46kg. The silver medal has gone to Croatia’s Kristina Tomic (11 points), the current European champion in -49 kg, and the two bronze medals have been conquered by Morocco’s Oumaima El Bouchti and Serbia’s Vanja Stankovi.
The second women’s -57 kg competition has been also played. The two third positions have gone to Croatia’s Nikita Glasnovic and Spain’s Marta Calvo. The silver medal has been conquered by Egypt’s Radwa Elsayed Nada, who has not gained any of the 8 points played against the winner, Turkey’s Irem Yaman.
As for men’s 80 kg competition, the first place has been conquered by Daniel Ros, European current runner-up in -87kg. Gómez has defeated with a score of 24 the athlete from the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Dejan Georgievski, who has only obtained 9 points.
Table tennis finals
This afternoon some table tennis finals have been played in Joana Ballarts Pavilion in Valls.
Within men’s competition, the battle for the bronze medal has been won by Turkey’s Ibrahim Gunduz, after being disqualified by France’s Alezandre François. Spain’s Jesús Cantero has obtained the silver medal in a match that has been finally won by Darko Jorgic.
In women’s table tennis, the bronze has gone to Spain’s Galia Dvorak, leaving Serbia’s Isabela Lupulesku out of the podium. The Monaco athlete Xiaoxin Yang has acquired a second position, whereas Egypt’s Dina Meshre has won the gold medal.
