Spain, the first women’s waterpolo winners in the Mediterranean Games
The handball 'warriors' also conquered the gold medalcategory: Mediterranean Games
This Satuday the sports programme of the Games has been full of finals. The competition is getting to an end and the medals are becoming more and more present in each country. Yesterday, the Spanish delegation was present in the upper parts of the podium thanks to the women’s teams of water polo and handball.
As for water polo, Tarragona has been the first venue of the Mediterranean Games that has included this discipline for women’s category in the sports programme. The Spanish team, current world’s runner-ups, have won the final against Italy, in a difficult match that finished with a 9 to 8.
The match for the third and fourth position was played by the Greek and French teams. Greece’s team eventually conquered the bronze medal in Campclar Aquatic Centre.
The ‘warriors’ do not disappoint in the Sports Palace
The Spanish handball team has defeated Montenegro in the women’s final that took place this Saturday evening in Sports Palace of the Mediterranean Ring. The ‘warriors’, as they are commonly known, have conquered the gold medals after winning with a 27 to 23 score.
The bronze match was played between Slovenia and FYROM, and was eventually won by the first team with only one-goal difference.
Today Sunday in the morning, the men’s finals for both sports disciplines will be played in the Mediterranean Ring.
