Many venues have opened today their facilities due to the beginning of the competitions

During the second day of competition of the XVIII Mediterranean Games several venues have opened to host several sports disciplines that Tarragona 2018 organises all around the region.
Reus Olympic Pavilion hosted this afternoon the first sessions of artistic gymnastics, mens and women’s, along with their first team finals of this discipline.
From today until next June 27th Constantí will host the weightlifting competitions in their respective categories. Every day will be a final and Lydia Valentín, current European champion, will represent the hosting country in these XVIII Mediterranean Games.
El Morell has started the qualifying rounds for badminton and the Cambrils pavilion has started the karate competition that will finish tomorrow to be followed by judo.
Handball in Campclar Sports Palace
This Saturday has also allowed the spectators to enjoy the first handball competition that take place in the Sports Palace of the Mediterranean Ring (men’s) and El Vendrell Pavilion (women’s). The Spanish national teams have made their debut winning in their respective competitions.
The sea as main subject
The Mediterranean sea, which gives its name to the Games, has stepped in today with the sports disciplines of water skiing and sailing.
The first one takes place in Moll de Costa in Tarragona, whereas the second one is held in the Salou Nautical Club venue.
Both competitions are free access for the spectators. Sailing can be followed until next June 29th, whereas water skiing will be held on June 23rd and 24th.
