Jalel Duranti obtains the gold medal in the road race modality of men’s cycling in Vila-seca
Lydia Valentín wins two more gold medals for Spain in weightliftingcategory: Mediterranean Games
Italy’s Jalel Duranti has obtained today the gold medal in the road race men’s category of the cycling competition of the XVIII Mediterranean Games Tarragona 2018. His Italian colleague Filippo Tagliano has conquered the silver one while the the bronze medal has gone to Portugal’s Rafael Silva.
The event has taken place today Wednesday 27th in Vila-Seca. 66 bicycle riders have participated in this sports modality in men’s category, Portugal, Italy and Spains are the national teams with a greater number of athletes participating.
The athletes have cycled 143 km along the mountains of Costa Daurada.
On the 30th the second cycling event will take place: the time trial, which will only be individual in these Mediterranean Games. It is important to note that these are the first Mediterranean Games to include the women’s category of this discipline.
Gold medal for Lydia Valentín in weightlifting
Constantí Pavilion was completely full today to see Spain’s Lydia Valentín competing for the gold medal in two modalities: snatch, and clean and jerk in 75 kg women’s category.
The Spanish athlete has conquered two gold medals in the two competitions. In snatch modality, Valentín is before France’s Gaëlle Nayo (silver medal) and Turkey’s Rabia Kaya (bronze medal). As for clean and jerk modality, the Spanish weightlifter has once again exceeded Gaëlle Nayo, who has obtained a silver medal, and Egypt’s Dina Barakat, who has won the bronze medal.
