12 gold medals delivered in Campclar Athletics Stadium during the last day of competition
Yesterday the celebration of athletics, one of the most popular Olympic sports, came to an end.category: Athletics
Thus, the medals of all the athletics categories were delivered in Campclar Stadium.
In long jump, Morocco’s veteran Yahya Berrabah, twice Olympic champion, won the gold medal, ahead of Algeria’s Mohamed Triki and France’s Yann Randrianasolo.
In 800 m final, the Salamanca-born athlete, Álvaro de Arriba, current indoor European runner-up, conquered the gold medal after defeating Morocco’s Smaili and Bosnia’s Mujezinovic.
The last day of athletics, with only one day of competition for the end of the Mediterranean Games in Tarragona, finished with two relay modalities, both in 400 m and 100 m. The Italian team won 4 medals, three gold one and a bronze.
Morocco’s athlete El-Aarabi set a new competition record with a score lower than 1 hour 5 minutes in men’s half marathon.
As for women’s category, there were double presence on the podium. Italy’s Sara Dossena conquered the gold medal, whereas the Tarragona-born athlete Marta Galimany obtained the silver medal and the Alava-born athlete, Elena Loyo, the bronze one.
