Calafell is a 25,000 inhabitants municipality located between Barcelona and Tarragona, in the north of Costa Daurada. A former fishing town, today is a tourist and residential village located between the two major metropolitan areas of Catalonia. The geographical location and communications are excellent and it has a privileged weather. It is rich in the local heritage and culture and, with a five kilometres of continuous beach, full of life and activity is one of the main tourist assets. Calafell is a municipality committed to sport: has over 40 sports organizations, both base and elite training, and it has become a sports tourism destination. In 2017 it will be one of the 2017 Mediterranean Games venues, holding the football competition.
