Altafulla is a well-preserved town and respectful to its protected environment and with a mild climate. Altafulla is like an island between the conurbation of Barcelona, Tarragona and the mass tourism on the Costa Daurada. It combines the best of leisure in just a few minutes and the peace of a great place to live, work, visit and enjoy. Culture, quality of service, nature and good treatment are outstanding attributes of the complementary tourist main attraction: its people, the beach and the sun.
The short distance to other towns and places of interest such as Barcelona, Roman Tarraco, Costa Daurada, Port Aventura, the Ebre delta, Gaudi and Picasso routes, the Cistercian Order, gastronomic visits and Priorat, Penedes, Terra Alta and Baix Gaià good wine and cava’s, make this village the beginning and the end of varied routes to discover a closer part of Catalonia. The town was declared a national cultural interest in 1998 by the Catalan Government. Two years later, in 2000, was also declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO for the Roman Villa dels Munts.
