The CCMA and the Tarragona 2017 Foundation sign a collaboration agreement to broadcast the Mediterranean Games

The agreement encompasses the coverage of the opening and closing ceremonies and the main sports events.

This morning, Núria Llorach, vice president of the Catalan Corporation of Media CCMA) and Josep Fèlix Ballesteros, mayor of Tarragona and president of the Tarragona 2017 Foundation, have signed a collaboration agreement. It is aimed at providing maximum dissemination of the XVIII Mediterranean Games,, to be held next summer in the city of Tarragona and fifteen municipalities. Within the framework of this agreement,the CCMA will broadcast the opening and closing ceremonies of the games, along with the main sports events..

The collaboration agreement was signed this morning at the CCMA offices in Sant Joan Despí, between Josep Fèlix Ballesteros, mayor of Tarragona and president of the Tarragona 2017 Foundation, and Núria Llorach, vice president of the CCMA, to broadcast the XVIII Mediterranean Games.

Through this agreement and in keeping with its task as a public service, the CCMA will report on and broadcast the events carried out within the framework of the Mediterranean Games, through TV3, Catalunya Ràdio and its digital media. The CCMA will also broadcast live the opening and closing ceremonies of the Mediterranean Games. For its part, the Tarragona 2017 Foundation will collaborate with the CCMA in coordinating these broadcasts, some of which will be produced by CCMA teams.

According to Josep Fèlix Ballesteros, “this agreement is essential and basic for the Mediterranean Games, for Tarragona and for the whole country.” The mayor of Tarragona and president of the Tarragona 2017 Foundation showed his satisfaction of “having the CCMA and its media -TV3 and Catalunya Ràdio- behind this project right from the start”. He underlined that “it is essential to watch the opening and closing ceremonies through this media.”

Núria Llorach recalled that “since the Barcelona Olympic Games, the CCMA has always shown its clear commitment to sport.” The vice president of the CCMA also highlighted that “now, the Mediterranean Games will give an opportunity to the CCMA to disseminate them to the world , with the live broadcast of the opening and closing ceremonies and the main sports events from each venue”.

This agreement adds to the one signed in June 2015, between TV3 and the Tarragona 2017 Foundation, to promote the drawing competition to design the Mediterranean Games mascot.

The XVIII Mediterranean Games will be held from 30 June to 9 July 2017 in the city of Tarragona plus fifteen municipalities. Two of these are located in the province of Barcelona. The Games are a a multisport competition, organized within the framework of the Olympic movement, with the recognition of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).<
