Golf is a sport in which players use various clubs to hit balls with a stick into a series of holes (normally 18) on a course and in as few strokes as possible.
Each hole consists in striking the ball from the tee and from every position in which it lands after each stroke, until it enters the hole, located at the end of the course. Most commonly golf is played for the lowest number of strokes. In order to achieve this goal it is important that the ball lands in the best possible position after each stroke, avoiding obstacles such as sand bunkers or lakes.
It is one of the oldest sports that exist. In 1754 the first rules were created in the city of St. Andrew, in Scotland.
This sport’s debut in the Mediterranean Games took place in the Edition of 1983 in Casablanca (Morocco).
