The XVIII Mediterranean Games will take place from the 22nd of June to the 1st of July 2018.
There are 16 different venues. Tarragona is the main venue, but the following municipalities will also witness the Games: Altafulla, Barcelona, Calafell, Cambrils, Castelldefels, Constantí, El Morell, El Vendrell, La Pobla de Mafumet, Reus, Salou, La Selva del Camp, Torredembarra, Valls and Vila-seca.
Tarragona will gather a total of 26 NOCs, all of them from the Mediterranean area. Thus, five African olympic comitees will participate: Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia; two olympic comitees from Asia: Lebanon and Syria; and 19 from Europe: Albania, Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia, Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Kosovo, Monaco, Montenegro, Portugal, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Republic of Malta, Serbia, San Marino, Turkey and Cyprus.
The tickets to access the Games will be available soon on the official website. Once they are ready to be purchased it will be published in the website.
The Mediterranean Ring, one of the epicentres of the Games, will be located in Campclar. It will have four facilities, and two of them will be a new construction. There’s already the velodrome, but the Aquatic Centre and the Sports Centre will also be built. The current athletics track will be fully remodelled and it will become the Athletics Stadium.
To ensure the best performance, two new facilities will we built, which will represent a before and after in the sporting legacy of the region.
- A Sports Centre, that will accommodate 5.000 people
- An Olympic Pool, with a temporary grandstand able to fit 3.000 spectators
In addition, there will be a complete remodelling of the current running track, which will become the Athletics Stadium. Its capacity during the Games will be 6,000 spectators.
Also, there will be reforms in several facilities that already exist in the host municipalities, such as the football stadiums in Tarragona and Reus.
Everyone can become a volunteer. You just have to be more than 16 years old.
The procedure to register as a volunteer is easy, you just have to complete the form.
It is a tool that aims to reach almost 180 schools in the province of Tarragona, in order to provide them with the educational content of the Games. It is addressed to students between the ages of 3 and 18 years and includes the training on four objectives linked to the legacy of the Games:
- Spreading the principles and values of the Mediterranean Games in the school setting.
- Promoting the values of sport linked to the full development of children
- Encouraging the development of talents for the educational practice of sport
- Fostering a sense of belonging to the culture of the Mediterranean
